Uric Acid

Measures uric acid, which can cause gout and kidney stones when high.

About this test

Why it is done

  • To investigate joint pain and swelling, especially gout.
  • To look into kidney stones.
  • To monitor treatment that lowers uric acid.

Preparation

Fasting is sometimes advised. Please ask us or your doctor before the test.
